Onsite GIS Support

Once a GIS project has been implemented it is likely that the system will require ongoing maintenance, e.g. in order to maintain data currency, to maintain hardware, to keep software versions up-to-date, etc.:

  • Maintain data: Keeping GIS spatial datasets (e.g. shapefiles, SDE layers) up to date as source data changes (e.g. commerical data source updates). While some of these tasks might be automated, others might require manual intervention.
  • Maintain code: Custom code implemented during the project will need to be maintained.
  • Maintain procedures: It is essential that data update procedures are kept current with changes to both the system itself and the personnel responsible for data ownership and administration, etc.
  • Maintain value: As time from implementation progresses it is likely that the business will define new requirements for the system. These requirements need to be captured and implemented if the system is to continue delivering value to its users.

Typically the day-to-day work of onsite support teams involves a combination of the following tasks:

  • GIS analysis to solve specific business challenges.
  • GIS support to increase productivity of an organisation's users.
  • Customisation of ArcGIS Desktop, ArcSDE and ArcGIS Server environments.
  • GIS database administration and data management.
  • Workflow identification, creation and documentation.
  • One-to-one GIS coaching and mentoring.
  • Classroom-based training.
  • Business analysis and requirements gathering.
  • Conducting GIS workshops and 'lunch and learn' sessions.
  • Development and maintenance of geoprocessing models.
  • Support of custom developed tools and templates.
  • Support of Exprodat software products.
  • TNTmips and MapInfo support.
