Exprodat, the oil and gas ArcGIS platform specialist, Esri Gold Partner and Getech group company, has once again sponsored a student prize for the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at Newcastle University.
The University is one of the very few in the world to produce fully qualified surveyors and geomatics professionals and their course is accredited by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Thierry Gregorius, Principal Consultant for Exprodat sits on the annual exam board and ensures that the exam questions are fit for purpose in the outside world. It is a hugely successful partnership as the school can boast a 98% employment rate of past graduates.
This year’s ‘Exprodat Prize’ was jointly awarded to two students; Oliver Smith and Sine Kelly, both of whom were judged to have attained excellence in their Stage 1 GIS studies. Each will receive £150.
The presentation of the award will take place at ‘Life During and Beyond Geomatics’. The event, which is hosted by the University, has been designed to bring together prospective employer companies and students from all years of the undergraduate Surveying and Mapping Science and Geographic Information Sciences courses.
Marketing Director for Getech, Jules Cullen explains why Exprodat places such importance on the development of undergraduates; “The Getech group of companies support and work extensively with universities around the world. The opportunity to help shape examinations that connect students to real world scenarios is a vital contribution to their launch into industry. We are delighted to acknowledge Newcastle University’s star performers in GIS with this award”.
