GIS technical expert Simon Kettle, from Exprodat, will be teaming up with Paul Hopgood, Team Survey Lead at BP E&P Ltd. Angola to present how to convert legacy seabed survey data to the industry standard Seabed Survey Data Model (SSDM).
Simon and Paul’s presentation will form part of an extensive program at the forthcoming Esri European Petroleum User’s Group (EPUG) meeting. The EPUG will be held on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th November 2012 in the Congress Centre, Great Russell Street, London and will bring GIS users together from all over Europe and from disciplines right across the oil and gas industry.
Talking about his forthcoming presentation Simon said: “The benefits of the consistent framework that the Seabed Survey Data Model provides are well known within the petroleum Esri user community. However, legacy data can often be overlooked. That’s bad news when that data contains million of dollars worth of information. Paul and I will be explaining how Exprodat partnered with BP to help extract, convert, structure and integrate seabed survey data from the Eastern Trough area of the North Sea. I am sure the audience will find the details of what we achieved not only very interesting but applicable to many of their projects too.”
Exprodat works with oil and gas companies around the world and provides expert GIS-based advice which is uniquely combined with knowledge and experience of working within exploration and production departments. The combination has proved extremely popular and the company continues to expand both staff numbers and their software suite offering.
