The session will look at how you can ppgress from using GIS purely as a visualisation and data integration tool in order to leverage its advanced spatial analysis capabilities in support of Exploration decision making. GIS has long been used as a powerful data integration and basemapping tool within the E&P industry, however, few companies have leveraged its advanced capabilities.
This workshop-based session will look at how spatial analysis functionality in GIS can be used to enhance traditional petroleum exploration workflows and provide new insights in to play fairway mapping, acreage analysis and opportunity ranking. It will also review some of the challenges that arise from using GIS in this way. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences in using GIS in the Exploration process, and how they have overcome any obstacles they have faced.
