London, United Kingdom, 8 July 2009 – Exprodat has today announced measures to lower the cost of its E&P GIS training programme in order to help its oil and gas customers continue to develop domain-specific GIS skills during the economic downturn. In addition to adopting a flat course rate across the programme, Exprodat has shortened course lengths and increased their training class capacity.
Exprodat’s Training Manager, Chris Skelly, says, “In the last year the business environment has changed and many of our customers now face reduced training budgets and travel restrictions as their companies cut what they see as non-essential spending. At Exprodat, because we believe that using GIS technology can significantly lower costs and improve decision making, we know that training is anything but ‘non-essential’. Participants in our training courses provide their organizations with an immediate return on their training investment. We help E&P staff work ‘work smarter’ with GIS increasing productivity, reducing errors and creatively identifying new ways of working.”
“We’ve responded to the economic downturn in three ways: firstly, we have condensed some of our courses from three days to two days in order to minimise the amount of time a participant spends away from their desk, as well as reduce costs by as much as a third! Secondly, we’ve reduced the cost of daily subscription to a flat rate across all our courses which makes our advanced courses even more cost effective. Finally, we have increased our capacity to deliver onsite classroom based training in order to overcome the travel restrictions many of our customers face.”
Exprodat’s E&P focused ArcGIS training courses are based on a broad experience of the applications of GIS within the petroleum sector, gained through working on many projects with clients. The training programme includes classes in how to apply GIS techniques to common E&P workflows like acreage analysis, play fairway analysis, environmental assessment, gridding and geostatistics, terrain modeling and satellite image analysis. A full list of available classes and a course schedule is available here.
Exprodat’s introductory ‘Applied ArcGIS Techniques for E&P’ course was the first of its kind in the oil and gas sector, and Exprodat has built on its early successes with this course by developing an entire training programme focused on applying ArcGIS technology to exploration and production workflows. Exprodat’s courses are hands-on training that provide ‘learning by doing’. TAP certified (www.tap-training.com) instructors on all courses ensure interactive small class learning environments that provide participants with ArcGIS skills and knowledge needed for projects back at the office.
