Exprodat, the energy sector GIS specialist and Getech Group company, has released a new version of its Data Assistant software, used by energy resource organisations to integrate geoscience data with Esri’s market-leading GIS technology.
At version 3.1, Data Assistant, an extension to ArcGIS Pro, provides a host of capabilities for geologists and geoscientists to better import and visualise key geoscience data within Esri’s powerful desktop GIS application, including improved support for seismic, well and cross-sections in 3D.
Building on the functionality of previous versions, Data Assistant v3.1 includes the long-requested enhancement of importing a seismic 3D survey into voxels to seamless display as a cube within ArcGIS Pro. Alongside this, the new version contains new capabilities for importing 2D cross-sections into 3D space and for batch importing well deviation surveys.

The new SEG-Y to voxel cube functionality truly shows the power of ArcGIS Pro’s 3D ‘scene’ environment, allowing users to visualize their seismic data by slicing through a voxel cube or even isolating specific seismic amplitude ranges. Meanwhile, the extended well deviation survey import tool makes it easier for users to bring in deviation geometries for multiple wells without any python scripting. Finally, the new cross-section import tool makes it simple to bring a picture from a scientific paper or report into ArcGIS Pro and position it correctly in 3D space. All these features are designed to reduce hassle for our users so that they can spend more time visualising and analyzing their data.”
Data Assistant v3.1 has been designed with performance improvements under-the-hood, while also adding support for ArcGIS Pro v3.3.
