Unconventionals Analyst v2.2 Keeps Onshore Shale Operators Ahead of the Competition
Exprodat, the Getech Group company and provider of world-leading geospatial expertise and software in support of geoenergy projects, has released an updated version of its popular Unconventionals Analyst software that ensures its userbase continues to gain significant competitive advantage in the onshore shale oil & gas sector.
Unconventionals Analyst v2.2 is an extension for Esri’s powerful desktop GIS application ArcGIS Pro, that provides a host of tools for geoscientists and reservoir engineers to better manage shale oil and gas, coal bed methane and tight sand plays.
Building on the functionality of previous versions, Unconventionals Analyst v2.2 includes tools for interactively assessing lateral spacings between wells in both two and three dimensions – a common business challenge for operators planning infill drilling campaigns. Spacings can also be calculated in bulk, greatly simplifying the analysis of existing operations across an area of interest.
To enhance a user’s well modeling even further, Unconventionals Analyst v2.2 can assign depths to a set of two-dimensional well stick features, creating 3D insights and enabling 3D visualizations. Also included in this release is a tool to calculate the azimuths of multiple wells at the same time, eliminating the need to generalize or measure each one.

Further to a host of functionality enhancements, Unconventionals Analyst v2.2 has also been designed to be simpler to use. One key usability improvement sees all drop-down menus displaying the full ‘contents group path’ for input layers – this enables the user to see exactly which layer has been selected, especially useful if multiple groups have layers with the same name.
