Exprodat, the energy sector GIS specialist and Getech Group company, has released a new version of its popular Unconventionals Analyst software, which is used by petroleum operators and financial institutions to manage shale oil and gas projects and investments.
At version 3.2, Unconventionals Analyst – an extension to Esri’s industry standard ArcGIS Pro desktop GIS application – builds on its already powerful functionality with a host of new capabilities designed to increase the productivity of its user-base of geoscientists, reservoir engineers and GIS professionals.
The new release includes enhanced Gun Barrel capabilities such as ‘box plot’ displays for visualizing well depth ranges, the ability to flatten wells on an interval and the option to customize display parameters such as well symbol size and color. These features enable users to create more informative gun barrel plots and eliminate the need for manual drawing.
The new Realize Wells tool addresses an all-too-common problem of trying to analyze inventory on incomplete well data by quickly enabling users to add heel points to simplified fan-shaped representations of multi-lateral well geometries. This allows users to better model the missing well geometries, dramatically enhancing the accuracy of spacing measurements and analysis results while reducing the time users spend on tedious manual data editing.
In the latest version, the popular Create Well Sticks tool for managing well inventory now allows for the re-spacing of existing wells while maintaining well IDs. This powerful feature supports iterative inventory adjustments, saving time and ensuring consistency in well planning and engineering work.
Elsewhere, the popular Trim Head functions have been made available as a new standalone Trim Wells tool within the Manage Wells toolset, allowing users to isolate lateral sections before running other analyses, ensuring consistent and accurate results.
Richard Webb, GIS Software Product Manager at Exprodat, commented: “We are delighted to release the new version of Unconventionals Analyst which incorporates a lot of feedback from our users and enables the software to deliver even more powerful and user-friendly tools. By including these advanced features, we continue to support our clients in optimizing their unconventional resource analysis, enhancing both accuracy and efficiency.”
